Who controls your information

EXAMIC LTD operates Examic.study and is the controller for the learner information used to provide and administer the platform. For privacy questions or rights requests, email hello@examic.study or use the Contact page and choose "Privacy".

Information we use and why

  • Account details (name, email address, password, sign-in records) to create and administer your access.
  • Learning activity (lessons opened, practice and mock answers and scores, flashcard ratings) to show your progress, mock feedback and revision suggestions.
  • Study Buddy: the question you type, with the text of the lesson you have open, is sent to an AI provider to produce an answer. Your questions and answers are kept so you can reload your own conversation for that chapter.
  • Messages you send through the contact form, live chat or email, to provide support.
  • Payment records: card payments are taken by Stripe. We receive the plan, amount, date and payment status, not your full card number.
  • Technical records needed to protect the platform and investigate faults.

Required account information enables us to provide access. Without it, we may be unable to create or administer your account. We do not sell your data.

Lawful bases

Contract, and steps you ask for before a contract, support account and learning delivery. Legal obligations support records we are legally required to keep. Legitimate interests support platform security and replying to general enquiries, balanced against your interests and rights. Optional marketing would need your separate opt-in; we do not ask for one at sign up, and account emails about your access are not marketing.

Cookies and similar technologies are covered by the Cookie Notice.

Service providers, locations and transfers

Information may be accessed by authorised personnel and by providers where necessary to deliver hosting, email, support, AI study assistance or payments. Processor access is governed by written arrangements.

The list of these providers, where they process information, and the safeguards for any transfer outside the UK is being prepared and is not published yet. Until it is, you can ask us for it at hello@examic.study.

How long we keep information

We keep information for the purpose for which it was collected and for applicable legal obligations. Relevant records may be preserved for an actual legal dispute or obligation.

Specific retention periods for account records, learning activity, support messages, payments, security logs and backups are being prepared and are not published yet. You can ask us about them at any time.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your information, or object to processing. You may withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.

We handle requests within the applicable legal timeframe, normally one month, subject to lawful adjustments or extensions. Proportionate identity checks may be needed. You can complain directly to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint; contacting us first is not compulsory.

Information you should not send us

Do not upload or type client files, confidential case details, identity documents or sensitive health information into Study Buddy, live chat or the contact form unless we ask for it through an appropriate support process.

Updates

We update this notice when our practices change and communicate material changes appropriately.
